Where We Travel

Serving Sunnyvale, CA

We're based at 400 W California Ave in Sunnyvale, and most of our calls come from right around that shop. We run jobs through the Heritage District a mile south, Sunnyvale West two miles southwest, Old Mountain View three miles west, and Cuesta Park just southwest of downtown. We also cover Mountain View, Los Altos, Cupertino, and Loyola, all within about five miles, and we'll go out as far as Palo Alto, Stanford, Menlo Park, Saratoga, or Milpitas when the job calls for it. Past that - San Carlos, Belmont, Foster City, San Mateo - we still take the call, but drive time factors into scheduling. If you're not sure whether your address is in range, call the number below and ask before you fill out a form. It's faster than guessing, and it saves you from waiting on a quote for a job we can't get to that week.

Our services

What We Actually Do

We work on residential garage doors: springs, openers, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, and full door replacement. A lot of what we see are torsion springs that let go on double doors from the 1960s and 70s stock that makes up most of this area's housing - those houses were mostly built between 1947 and 1987, median around 1964, and the original hardware on a lot of them is still in service. We don't do commercial roll-up doors or gate systems. If your call is about a fence gate or a loading-dock door, we'll tell you straight that it's outside what we quote, rather than send someone out to say the same thing in person.

What to expect

After You Call

When you call 14087863362, we'll ask what the door is doing: won't open, won't close, makes a bang, sags on one side, opener runs but the door doesn't move.

Phone estimates from basics

We'll ask the door's rough age, whether it's one piece or sectional, and whether it's a single or double. That's usually enough to give you a phone estimate for common jobs like spring replacement or a cable snap.

Why some jobs need visits

For anything less common - a bent track, a panel that's been hit, an opener that's intermittently dead - we'll set a time to come look, because pricing that kind of job over the phone is just a guess dressed up as a number. We'd rather tell you we need eyes on it than quote you something we can't hold to.

Our team

Who Does the Work

A technician comes out, looks at the door and the opening, and tells you what's actually wrong before any parts get ordered. We don't upsell a full door replacement when a spring and a service call will get another decade out of what's there - but we'll also tell you plainly when a door isn't worth fixing again. Given the income levels common across this service area, a lot of owners we talk to choose replacement once they're past a second or third repair on an original 1960s door, and that's a reasonable call, not one we push on anyone. One limit worth knowing up front: some opener parts and certain panel styles are special-order, and if yours is one of them, the job won't close out same-day no matter how simple the fix sounds.

Questions

Common questions

Can you give me a firm price over the phone?

For common jobs - a broken torsion spring, a snapped cable, a bad roller - yes, usually. For anything involving a bent track, panel damage, or an opener that fails intermittently, we need to see the door first. Quoting those blind almost always means revising the number once someone's standing in front of it.

Do you cover my part of Sunnyvale?

If you're anywhere from the Heritage District near our shop out through Old Mountain View, Cuesta Park, or Sunnyvale West, yes. We also run out to Mountain View, Los Altos, and Cupertino regularly. Call the number above with your address if you're unsure.

Why can't you quote a panel replacement without seeing it?

Panel sizing and color match vary by door age and manufacturer, and a lot of the doors we see here are original to houses built in the 1960s, which means the panel profile may not be stocked anymore. We check before we quote so we're not promising a part we can't get.

What don't you work on?

We don't do commercial roll-up doors or gate systems - residential garage doors only. If your call is about either of those, we'll say so up front rather than schedule a visit we can't help with.
